[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone!!
What happened to me and my camera after this shot is quite evident I guess. I had to dry both, in the sun, on the sand. I am posting a workshop to give you a perspective of where I was standing while taking this picture.
This is a small cave on Honey Island, on the Brazilian coast facing the South Atlantic Ocean. Huge waves smash on to the rocks and the cave and create an amazing sight. One that you spend hours looking at.
This shot is the result of underestimating the strength of the fierce ocean. If I would not have left the scene immediately, I would have been more than just wet when the next wave hit. However, since I did not, I can call it adventurous ;)
One side of this island, the one that I have tried to capture in this picture is extremely rough and fierce while the other which is just a 10 min walk (since this is the lean part of the island), is absolutely calm and serene, since it is inwards towards the Brazilian land mass and the other one's facing the South Atlantic Ocean.

I am not too confident about the quality of the picture, since I am sure one could have done much better with the details and exposure however, I am not trying again :)

That is one very cool story..and after having live on the Mendocino coast which has a simialr coastline with rocks and waves..and a few fatalities....I can appreciate much what you went through to get this one...Fine Image and even better story!

Hahaha! Well Kirti, I'm sure you won't try it again. I like the picture though, the wave looks real nice. It's a bit OE in places but I still like it. Is the camera ok?

Hi Kirti!

Might there be OE on in the back, but you found the perfect exposure for the wave hitting you! And there are fine details in that wave. So for the subject you've done well and for the bg: who cares? It looks awesome anyway!
It shows real power of the ocean...
Very nice rocks in the ws, that's a nice shot even by itself I think. TFS both!

Hi Kirti,
a technique i know well! Hope there's no permanant damage! Be careful! However, it is a very dramatic shot! Nicely frozen detail and excellent '3D' effect!
