Seriema, sariema ou siriema é o nome vulgar dado às aves pertencentes à família Cariamidae da ordem Gruiformes. São aves de médio porte, terrestres, que preferem correr a voar. O grupo é nativo da América do Sul e habita zonas de pradaria ou florestas abertas. As Seriemas alimentam-se de insetos, lagartos e pequenas cobras, como também de cajuis e cajus do cerrado. Em contato com os humanos, as Seriemas são sempre desconfiadas e quando se sentem ameaçadas por eles, costumam abrir suas asas e enfrentá-los. Aceitam diferentes tipos de alimentos dados pelo homem, como grãos de milho e pedaços de pão. Andam em casais ou pequenos grupos. Só voam quando se sentem obrigadas. À noite abrigam-se no alto das árvores, onde também constroem seus ninhos. Do tupi, siriema=pequeno nhandú, ou seriema=nhandú com crista.

Hello Nilson,
A fine capture of this remarkable shy bird, the Siriema, a species I have never seen in real life.
Great dorsal POV with its head turned and taken with fine sharpness against an OOF natural Bg of its grassy habitat.

Gostei muito da foto. As cores estão tão vivas, a nitidez dos olhos, bico e das penas fantástica. O que sei dessas aves é que são arredias, ignorava que enfrentavam os homens qdo ameaçadas. Lindo trabalho.
