As orientações do Howard estão corretas. Verifique no manual de sua câmera qual a distância mínima que você pode chegar até o objeto. Se ela tiver a função macro habilite!
Procure também não centrar suas fotos. Pesquise sobre Ponto de Ouro ou Seção Áurea!
Visite sempre os membros para dar uma crítica principalmente nos que estão sem ou pouca, tem muita foto boa sem nota.
Coloquem sempre mais de 4 linhas em NOTAS isso habilita dar pontos pelos membros!

Robert, I applaud you for your efforts. If you have a manual exposure setting it should've been much lower as this white is over-exposed. You don't neccesarily need a "macro" lens. Does your camera have a macro setting? Since I have no info. on your camera I can't help much... :-( Also your notes should contain some information about the shot & subject to benefit from this site. Thanx for posting.
