[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been trying to get an in-flight shot of this species for quite a long time.

I have the feeling that this one could be a little bit sharper. If I had used the maximum aperture at 400mm (f/5.6), I'd gain shutter speed. If this had happened, maybe the shot could be sharper. Anyway, I consider this a satisfactory image.
_____

There is hardly a more diverse family of birds in the world than the Cuculidae. The variety ranges from parasitic songsters that lay their eggs in the nests of other birds (the classic Old World cuckoo) to large & rangy ground-feeders like the Guira Cuckoo of southern South America (above) to secretive beasts whose gurgling "waterbottle" calls can dominate an African landscape, such as the Burchell's Coucal. The biodiversity in this group may support the growing feeling among ornithologists that the wonderfully strange birds which comprise the current "family" should more properly separated into four to six different families. The relationship of the groups of these birds to each other is still very uncertain.

It's a "bird of eastern tropical South America in the cuckoo family, Cuculidae. It is 40 cm (16 inches) long, with gray-brown streaked body, short frowsy crest, and a thinner bill than that of its close relatives, the anis. Guiras live in small flocks in grasslands and feed on grasshoppers and other insects. Guiras, like anis, give off a strong, pungent odour".

Hi Livio,
superb capture!....!! Nice warm light and warm colours of the background add to the image. The shape of the body looks like it's flying high speed.
Well done,
JAcob

Olá Livio,
Excellent in-flight capture of a Guira Cuckoo, with good sharpness, lighting and BG set in a pleasing composition.
Your panning technique is very good if you could achiev such sharpness at this shutterspeed.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hello Livio,
I would consider this more than satisfactory. The eye seems sharp. Good panning technique and lovely colors in the background. Well done. Regards,
Hakan

I would be happy with this shot too.The wings seem well in focus, and the whole image gives the impression of fast flight.

Hi Livio,
Very good in flight capture!
We can see with a lot of good details how this bird looks like, their yellow colour, dark wings and light eye.
I think you did it great with your timing and the DOF, got a nice blurred and colorful background.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

You got this one perfectly Livio, I think the sharpness is fine on this one, I think if you were to add sharpness it might become grainy. :)

Hello Livio,
This is truly superb. This lightning, composition and exposure are wonderful. This must not have been an easy shot to achieve and you did great! I think that details are pretty good and we can clearly see its white eye :) Well done!

Hi Livio,

Wonderful shot of this bird in flight. The colors are lovely and the details - even of the eye - are great.

Jane

Great capture at 1/400, Livio.
The image is quite sharp. The elongated posture of the bird on its horizontal flight path looks graceful.
The blurred BG colours are pleasing to the eyes.
Thanks and take care.
Ram

Hola Livio,
Muy buena, me gusta como se ve en vuelo el pájaro, parece ir a gran velocidad.

Hi Livio

Another amazing photo from you!
The pose of this beautiful bird that you managed to capture while flying here is absolutely magnificent!
I also love the warm tones and colors as well as the terrific DOF that isolated the subject so well from the BG.
A magnificent composition, too.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Livio

Congrats on this in flight shot. What a streamlined bird. Lovely quality shot! :-)

Olá Lívio,
O fundo borrado dá um toque especial a esta magnífica foto. A mistura das cores nele é um dos mais importantes elementos, seja para transmitir a sensação de vôo, seja para destacar e equilibrar a brilhante imagem do pássaro.
Minhas homenagens
Raimundo
