Some beautiful orange
Chlosyne lacinia is a Nymphalid butterfly occurring
in the Southwest to Texas and southward to Argentina.
This is a highly variable species in the pupal, larval, and adult stages. Four adult forms are recognized although the systematic justification for these distinctions are questionable because one mating can produce offspring resembling all four with an almost continuous gradation between them. The literature indicates some geographic specificity.

Hello Brutamonte,
a lovely picture with respect to general and colour composition. The butterfly is
- Chlosyne lacinia
- family: Nymphalidae
The species is very variable with respect to wing colour patterns.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Brutamonte,
Fine capture of a species of Nymphalid butterfly of a species unknown to me. This is pretty sharp and though the compo. is centralised, it looks good because the butterfly is tilted diagonally.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan
