What an interesting orchid. I have several varieties of orchids at my office. Your photo shows an interesting variety. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Paula

This is probably Paphiopedilum insigne although there are a number of features that do suggest that there might be at least Paphiopedilum spicerianum somewhere in the parentage as well.

These are:
1. The reflexed (bent or turned down) and undulate (waved) petals.
2. The yellow-green (half-moon) base, the large brown spots that were reduced to dotted lines, and the central purplish stripe on the dorsal sepal.

Both those species mentioned are extensively used in hybrid Paphiopedilums, but the benefit of the doubt remains that it "could be" a wayward variation of the Paphiopedilum insigne. The strut used to support the flower is clearly visible in your shot which suggests that this a cultivated (home grown) flower and the shadows on the wall does not do much to counter this probability. Unfortunately the saccated (pouched) lip shows some serious deformity or damage.
