This is indeed a caterpillar.The make and model I'm not familiar with,but those bristles would make me think twice about touching it.

Amazing details, this is a really vibrant shot, just packed with colour, without it being overbearing.
Your 'caterpillar' is The oleander caterpillar, Syntomeida epilais Walker, a bright orange caterpillar with tufts of long black hairs, is a common sight on oleanders in Florida and southern Georgia. In southern regions of Florida the oleander caterpillar can cause considerable defoliation. This species is the only caterpillar pest of concern on this ornamental plant, although a related species, the spotted oleander caterpillar, Empyreuma affinis Rothschild, may be found occasionally in south Florida and the Keys. This must really be a Brazilian caterpillar given the colours of the vegetation. Did he clean up before leaving ?

Yes Livio, I think this IS a caterpillar. Very good macro of it. The details and colours are terrific. I imagine it will turn into a magnificent butterfly - you must look out for it in a few weeks time. Well shown.
