Juan, very good photo! Great colors! Just one suggestion... you could use a smaller aperture (ie f/2.8 or f/4) so to narrow down the DoF (Depth of Field) and eliminate the background. This way the wonderful butterfly would be the point-of-interest without any distraction from the background. ;-)

Beautiful photo of the butterfly. The colors on the wings are gorgeous and show up well against the vegetation. Very sharp details. A bit too centered as far as composition goes. It looks like the "common buckeye" that we have in our part of the world, except for the blue part. So I am not sure if it is the same thing.

Hi Juan,
This is probably a Mangrove Buckeye, Junonia evarete (Nymphalidae). Its larvae feed on black mangroves (Avicennia).
