[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We were in a small village Casimiro de Abreu, north of Rio on a fazenda. Behind the fazenda was a big garden. In that garden were many birds. The owner loves birds very much and every day the woman of the owner put some fruit on the branches of the trees and bushes. She can identify all the birds, except for one bird. During years she is trying to identify this bird.
So she asked me to put this bird on internet and wait for the reactions.
The drawing on the wings is like a Paradise Tanager. But that's the only correspondence.
Maybe somebody can help.

I don't know so much about South Americas bird and can't help you with ID.

Hi Peter,
Put her mind to rest. This is a Turquoise Tanager (Tangara mexicana). Most of the races of this Tanager have a yellow belly, and if she has searched for it on internet she may have been misled by looking at the races outside of SE Brazil. This is race brasiliensis, and it has a white belly. An adult. Nice bird.

Outstanding shot of this beautiful bird with such lovely colours and sharp details on its plumage. Superb lighting and you have captured a fine pose set against the smooth BG. Good capture and mystery solved.
Its colors makes it less attractive then others,
but it is a beautiful bird and you did a good job here.
