Great focus on the eyes .. I really like the DOF here .. the placement in the shot is very good ..I like that you got all of him in the frame ..

I use my 70-300mm lens for a lot of feild macros.. I like shooting with the 300mm macro mode and with a large insect the 1:2 macro is just right..

Excellent view of this unusual mantis.
I've never seen one with eyes like this before.
Great composition and good colour and detail where it counts.
It would be interesting to know more about this unusual species.
