[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The breast of the Red-and-green Macaw (Ara chloroptera) is bright red, but the lower feathers of the wing are green. When they are flying you see only the red colours. The Red-and-green Macaw has characteristic red lines around the eyes formed by rows of tiny feathers on the otherwise bare skin. In recent years there has been a marked decline in its numbers due to habitat loss and illegal capture for the pet trade.
This photo is taken in the Pantanal, in the wild.

Amazing in-flight capture of a Red-and-green Macaw, showing its red colouration from the underside in a good exposure. Fine composition against a contrasting blue sky and very good sharpness.
