Another bird from the Pantanal.
This is a female Pale-crested Woodpecker (Celeus lugubris). It is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The male has a red stripe on the cheek.
It’s similar to the Blond-crested Woodpecker, but has chestnut-brown underparts and upper tail coverts. Wings barred.

Hi peter. have never seen this one so thanks for posting. a plain coloured bird but then a bright blue eye ring. nature can be so strange. a nice POV. well done TFS. good notes too.
