One of the things I like the most about this bird is, of course, its red eye. The shot was taken in the campus of a local college.

The Grey Monjita (in Portuguese, "Maria-Branca" - White-Mary) is found from the mouth of the Amazon to the border of Peru and south from here to south-east Brazil and central Argentina. However it is lacking from coastal north-east Brazil.

This flycatcher inhabits grasslands with scattered trees and cerrado. Where present it is usually easily seen perched on fences or on top of bushes. On a few occasions, I observed it at times flying slowly with its feet dangling as seen in the 4th photo. During the breeding season, they have an undulating display flight.

It is ashy grey above with white above the lores. The wings are mostly black with a white speculum when at rest which is seen as a very conspicuous white "V" in flight. The tail is black with a broad white tip.
The throat is white with a broad dark grey malar stripe while the breast is ashy grey and the belly is white.

Hello Livio,
A fine bird and so nicely captured with great details in the plumage!
Attractive composition with a strong diagonal, DOF works well to blur out the somewhat busy background!

You've managed the difficult light and shadows here very well with great use of fill flash..Sharp detail and great DOF with the whole bird in, blurring the BG nicely. The blues & greens of the BG work well..I like the POV, pose, and composition here also :)
