Oh my, I thought when I saw this photo, I’m missing a piece of the tail.
We were in a hurry and the Trogon was hidden deep in the bushes. I had made a few photos from the bird in front. I showed you earlier. Then he turned around for a moment, looked at me and was gone. So I had only the possibility to make one photo from the backside.
I hope you forgive me.

The Blue-crowned Trogon (Trogon curucui) is a species of bird in the Trogonidae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.
Range in South America, Amazon Basin
The Blue-crowned Trogon's range in South America is the southwestern and southeastern quadrants of the Amazon Basin with the northern limit being the Amazon River. The range continues beyond the Amazon Basin south to northern Argentina and Paraguay, and eastwards to eastern coastal Brazil as far south as northern Espírito Santo state; a third of the species range is outside the Amazon Basin.

25 cm. Male with blue head and breast, back green, red belly (lighter in female), white underside of tail barred black. Female gray on head and breast, with more black on tail.

Hello Peter

As for the tail...it means not much. In this case the overwhelming colours and unusual bird displayed out shadow the missing tail. I did notice right away but focus for me went right back to the bird.

Hello Peter,
Excellent capture of this superb Trogon. Great sharpness, POV and pose and a fine vertical composition against a good blurred natural BG. Pity about the tail, but it was only a small portion. Nice to see this species.
Well done and have a nice weekend,
Ivan

Hi Peter.
The beautifulness of the pictured bird and quality of the reproduction of all its beauty impress my imagination. Superb refined work. Excellent POV and DOF. Nice combination of the sharp main subject and nice smooth BG. Only cropping (or framing) on the bottom is strong a little bit). My compliments and kind regards.

Hi Peter.
Wow, the colours. Beautiful shot with him turned to look at you, that look takes all the attention so I don't think the piece of tail missing is to much to worry about. Beautifully exposed with lovely sharpness and detail. Quite irridence colours he has, beautiful.
