[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One may have the feeling that, here, I just flipped the photo that's on www.treknature.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo7615.htm . But I can assure you I haven't done that. They are different photos, different instants.

This toucan was kept in captivity in a place called "Usina" (Mill). It’s located some 10 kilometers away from my town, and once there was in the place a sugar mill. Soon, what we call “Hotel Fazenda” (a kind of hotel in the countryside) is being built there. I don’t know what happened to the birds that were (are?) kept in the place.

Another thing this shot has in common with the one mentioned above is some little overexposure I couldn't avoid.

As for the bird, its beak may seem heavy, but its structure is indeed a light one, which makes easy for the bird to fly.

It feeds on insects, lizards, eggs, other birds' offsprings and fruits.

The species can be found in Brazil and Argentina.

I owe these informations to Alexandre Zulu and Gerhard Theron, two members of this website who also took pictures of this species. In other to check their shots, please refer to www.treknature.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo6715.htm and www.treknature.com/gallery/Africa/South_Africa/photo6048.htm .

What a super bird and great info in your note. TFS. Tim

Halo Livio!
Next wonderful photo of tucano! Great colours and just perfect portrait. I love blue eye too!

Colours and pose are excellent, but the bird is just a little soft.

Excelent shot, Livios.
Well done on the composition.
Just wondering, Neat image?
The blur tool on the background to rid of noise would be better. Neat image plasticizes birds and animals. If it's not neat image, disregard what is said here.
Excelent work

Mike

A wonderful shot of this lovely looking bird Livio,
Not as sharp as the previous post, but as enjoyable to view.
The colours are fantastic, with good detail (The water drop in the beak looks great).
Thanks for posting

A little soft but the overall effect is beautiful. The colours are amazing. Like the curves of it's body and beak. Good BG too.
Regards Toni.

Beau portrait Livio, les couleurs et l'éclairage sont excellents. Juste un petit floue dans l'image, peut être le focus.

Merci pour l'envoi et bonne journée.

Hi Livio, nice picture.
Good pose, colours and well composed.
It's very soft, used any soft-filter ?
Very well done.

Hello Livio,

The colors are extremely nice! Wonderful composition and great pose. The focus on the bird is a little soft. The BG is great and contrasting with the subject. I just love the visible pattern on the bill of the bird. A very fine picture! TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Those birds are superb Livio but very hard to capture. White and black areas are hard to exposure together. You did it well. Fantastic colours of beak and head. Tropical bird in every inch. Great post my friend!

beau portrait photographique pour ce superbe Toucan avec son énorme bec aux jolies couleurs.
Well Done !

Livio, Very pleasing to the eye..Bold vivid colors with good exposure of the difficult black and white..It's a portrait/profile so the bit of softness works for me! Well done..
