Popular Name: Jararaca
Specie: Viperidae
Cientific name: Bothrops jararaca
English name: Common lancehead
Habitation: South America
Habitat: woods and mountains
Habits: nocturn
Particularidades: Very dangerous, but generally escapes, when it’s discovered. Measures 1,2 m in average. The lancehead has na excellent camuflage due to its designs.
Reproduction: Vivípara, that means, she gives birth to nestlings, instead of eggs, when it comes close to the rainy season.
Food: Litte frogs, toads, small lizzards. Adult eats principally small rodents.

Found this cute “litte baby” in my backyard, close to the washing tank, hiding from sun. Even though it is a very dangerous specie, but during the day you can get quite close to it without danger. Although the “babies” have more poison than the older ones, it only bites if it has to defend itself. Thus, I didn't bother it... ;>)
(sorry again I lost the camera's specifications).
Enjoy.

Nice one Margit! But I expect you get used to living with these around. No snakes in NZ - hurrah! Do you call people to come and remove them, or do you just let them go where they like?
This is a very interesting shot of the snake, and your notes too. He is very shiny. Well shown and thank you.
