This is the second (and last) photo of the Guiracuckoo witch I saw in the neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, taken from a open car window. The first photo was in front, this one from behind. I have some complementary information.

The GUIRA (Guira guira) is a cuckoo related to anis. It is a common bird in Brazil, absent only from the continuous forest of Amazonia.
It has a hirsute orangey crest and measures 40 cm. Like its cousins anis, the guira give off a strong, pungent odour.

Voice: in flight a high, strident ‘ee-eh, ee-eh, ee-eh’; paroxysmal, plaintive whistles ‘pio…pio…pio…pr…prr…prr(io)…prr(io), descending and stridulous at end.

Hi Peter,

What an amazing looking bird this is! I love the pose with his wing down at his side looking like an arm. Good colors and nice details of his face, wing, and plummage. He almost looks human standing there.

Hi Peter.
What a cute bird and superb wide DOF. Excellent scene, atrractive pose of the bird and funny a bit glance. Dark stump and light BG are looked together very well and supplement the fine bird excellently. Exposure of the picture is great too. My compliments.

Rio de Janeiro must be a city of multiple faces with those birds in its surrounding! I like the picture and the notes, it is very interesting. The bird looks half woodpecker, half vulture. The background is perfect to show off the bird in all its details. Thank you!

Hi Peter,
This unusual bird seems to pose for you :) This is a nice composition with beautiful colors and plain background! Your notes are also interesting. This must be something to meet this bird in the wild as they look so strange to me :) Thanks,

What an amazing lookng bird. Absolutely stunning. I'm pleased you managed to get such a good shot of him as I've never seen one of these before. It looks liek it's head doesn't belong to it's body:-)
