As for its leg, I don't know if it's broken. Even considering it is, I can assure you this owl leads a... normal life. I could see it taking care of its nest and easily flying around.

It's a "coruja-do-campo" (Speotyto cunicularia). In English, burrowing owl. They usually build their nests by digging holes. They can be found almost all over Brazil, feed on insects and have nocturnal and diurnal habits.

Hi Livio,
Very good shot of this beautiful owl. The eyes show a very strong presence and are well exposed. Superb details on the feathers. I like very much the framing and the warm colors.

These little owls do make a wonderful subjects. the thickening of the leg does look as though it has been brocken in a twisting motion at some time. luckly not needing both feet to subdue its prey. TFS this great shot .

Poor foot, but as you say, he gets on fine with it like this. The colours of the owl and the BG all tone in so well together. Well done Livio, I like it very much.
