This is the "Anu-preto". In English, smooth-billed ani.

Height: 14"

Description
A sociable, dark bird that, at a distance, resembles a grackle. It is distinguished from a grackle by an oversized, thick bill that grows out of the top of the head. Tail is very long, may be bobbed and wagged, and is often held beneath body. On close inspection, feathers on upper breast and back are
lined with iridescent silver, and appear scaled.

Voice
A thin and rising, "kweeeelik" made upon close approach. Audio is available at eNature.com.

Feeding
Feeds in large groups. One or two birds are assigned as look-outs while the rest of the birds feed in a flock on the ground or among reeds and brush. Have seen birds that are hunting feed the look-outs.

Good one Livio! You even managed to capture the glint in the bird's eye. Details are sharp and composition is nice. Some people may find the oof grass in the fg distracting, but I don't think so. Well done & TFS!

Hello Livio, Sharp details and the Up "Periscope" theme works well here. Great exposure of the black plumage also..I like the colorful setting you've found this bird in and the alert upright pose. Well done!

The composition, detail and framing are excellent. What really makes me like this one alot is the slightly OOF yellow flowers all around the subject. They just add alot to an excellent shot.

Fascinating bird, Livio. Took me a bit to figure out the shape of the bill. The black feathers are very well detailed. I too like the surround of foliage; gives the bird even more importance. Impressive :-)

What a strange looking bird, Livio. I have never seen one like that before. I wish we could see more of him, though the flowers in front and in the back make a pleasing background. Well done, and thank you for showing us such an unusual bird. : )

Very shy, dinosaur looking bird Livio ;-) I bet it was very hard to catch. Very strange looking beak and brave eye :-) I like it!
