Earlier today, when I had just arrived home from work, I saw a green spot on the floor. At first, I thought it was a leaf; after all, there are trees in the neighborhood. Even though, suddenly, the leaf started walking!

Needless to say I hurried to leave the motorcycle, to open the door and to take the camera.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to spot the antennas of the insect, because of the color of the background.

Lying on the floor, I could take some shots of this insect. Be sure it is the biggest bug I've ever seen: approximately 6 to 7 centimeters!

Hi Livio your walking leaf is a Kattydid a relative of the grashopper and crickets.
those fine antenae are always hard to capture. the image is well captured for a hurried shot. TFS Robert

Good job on this Livio! These leaf hoppers are the strangest insects. It looks even stranger on a surface where it is not disguised. 6-7 cm. is huge, good for you for getting on the floor next to it, LOL!

What a nice greeting to come home to Livio. And what a big size too. I have heard of these
Kattydids before, but it is interesting to see one. You can understand how hard they must be to be found up on a tree. Good catch, thank you.

This is a nice shot Livio, Very interesting insect with good sharpness, details, DOF and color. I appreciated your story of how you got this one. Well done.

Bicho estranhíssimo Lívio,
