Dolphins love to follow boats and play with it! I canīt count how many times Iīve seen this wonderful animals when fishing in the blue waters and I have all this unforgetable times on my mind! This mammals are almost like kids playing with the boat, jumping and swimming near the bow. The problem to do a good caption is the boat movement. Itīs difficult to frame and shot with zoom, specially considering we have some delay using snapshots. If you stop the boat, dolphins usually go away. Even when in motion, we donīt have many time to shot, because we always see the familyīs leader calling the group striking his tail to the water a few yards away from the boat. Itīs like to hear him saying: "Ok, you had enough recreation! So letīs go!". This was one of the first from the group to join us 40 miles out the coast that day, giving us some happy moments for the beginning of the year, at Jan 2nd! I just crop around 5% to have some tiltness correction and add sharpness. Cheers dolphins!

I know that wasn't an easy shot to get. Did you use "burst" or were you just incredibly lucky? How many shots did you have to take to actually catch one mid jump? Trying to get shots like this have driven me crazy in the past. My mind's eye still sees all the shots I missed! Thanks for sharing. If you have enough resolution I would be tempted to crop it a little closer...I think the splashing water would be great.

Hi Jose,
Great action photo of this dolphin. You must have had a realy steady hand when shooting it this fast and on a boat. I tried it when we went on a orca trip, but not may good photos. I realy like the action in this one, with a good splash to show the speed of the dolphin.
TFS,
Niek
