[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It was late in the afternoon when I took this shot. The sun was about to set down.

These birds are very common here in town.
_____

Crotophaga ani.

This is the "Anu-preto". In English, smooth-billed ani.

Height: 14"

Description
A sociable, dark bird that, at a distance, resembles a grackle. It is distinguished from a grackle by an oversized, thick bill that grows out of the top of the head. Tail is very long, may be bobbed and wagged, and is often held beneath body. On close inspection, feathers on upper breast and back are
lined with iridescent silver, and appear scaled.

Voice
A thin and rising, "kweeeelik" made upon close approach. Audio is available at eNature.com.

Feeding
Feeds in large groups. One or two birds are assigned as look-outs while the rest of the birds feed in a flock on the ground or among reeds and brush. Have seen birds that are hunting feed the look-outs.

Lovely pair of these quaint birds (common to you, but very exotic to me) in beautiful dusk light. Great details and expressions on their faces. A peaceful evening scene. TFS. : )

Hey Livio nice capture of these two lovers in paradise, these birds are quite popular throughout southern Peru as well, there were so many, I kept telling myself I'm gonna photograph them tomorrow, and then tomorrow would come around and then I would say the next day I'll get them, but you know what?...I never took their darn picture, I keep kicking myself for not getting them, I guess I'll have to get them next time. :)

Lindo casal.. e sorte o colorido do fundo... como realçou!
Abraço!
Carmem

Hi, Livio

Didn't comment one of your photos for a long time, on a "to much work" reasons. Well, today is Sunday!
Not your best photo you made technicaly speacking, but a very good composition and dynamics, a real natural history shot, that makes up for any eventual technical issues.

Regards, Petru

Hi Livio,
Nice capture of the happy couple. I like the BG colors also. Good detail (it seems you shot this from a distance?) and exposure.
Great work!
