I wish I could help with the ID, but I have no idea what the name of this beauty is.
The PP work adds a nice touch to the image, I like it.
Good detail, colours and sharpness. exposure and lighting are good. Good POV and composition.

Hi Jose
Firstly, I have no clue on the ID of this interesting and lovely butterfly. I have spent the last 1½ hours on Google & other search engines without any success. All I can say is that the words Brazil, Brazilian, butterfly, butterflies, photo, or photography gives you thousands of pages of nothing. You find screen savers, books, plates, poems, and anything else you do not want.
Secondly, your PP enhanced photo is definitively something different. To be quite honest with you, I cannot make up my mind whether I like it or not. If we can blur BG's I see no reason why you cannot use the motion filter. I am just not sure how the 'powers that be' will view it in relation to the TOS. The slight problem I do have with it though is the fact that you find numerous repetitions within the image and it also makes the photo look somewhat flat. The positive side is that it removes all forms of distractions. I don't know which I like or dislike the most so, I’d rather remain vote less on this aspect. A bit of a cop-out isn’t it? There are a number of areas where one can actually see the cut line and that might be a little disturbing, IMHO. I just wonder how the original photo looked that made you feel you had to do such drastic alteration to the photo.
The butterfly itself is really looking very good. The colours are stunning and the details are fine. The only thing that could count against it is the cloning or the colouring in of the left antennae, but that was probably neccesary because in the process of selecting the BG (to apply the filter) the selection tool probably got hold of the antennae and the motion filter then 'placed the antennae in motion' (chuckle).
Anyhow, it was a nice effort and TFS.

Hi José,

as for the ID - I am quite sure the butterfly belongs to the family of Pieridae ("Whites") - in spite of its very dark appearance.
From a very quick investigation, the species could be a male of

"Pereute swainsoni (Gray, 1832)"

but you are invited to try some further investigation by writing "Pereute" into the image searching function at Google.

The butterfly is captured very clear and sharp in a very nice pose. The treatment of the background, however, looks a bit distracting to me - like an image captured at the side of a road - with a pink car racing by. But as the BG is the result of postwork, I would be curious to see the untreated image - same as our friend Loot.

PS - Having seen the original version in the workshop right now, I sure prefer what can be seen in the background in "reality" - in particular with the postwork Loot has done to it.

It's so good in fact, we can forgo talking about the pink streak?

I also can not help with the ID of the flutterby, sorry! I've never seen THAT one here in Oklahoma.
