In portuguese, this is "siri", or "maria farinha" (Ocypode quadrata), very common to find in the beach sands everywhere, specially at night, when the children have fun capturing it...just to leave them free later.

Nice shot with a great light.
Excellent exposure and DOF.

Hi Jose,
A cute looking little fellow. You handled the bright sunlight very well. The colors and detail look very good. Nice shot here.

Beautiful portrait and a great composition and pose. The detail is lovely and sharp and the colours are perfect. I have seen them also in red and black

Abrazos

Zeca, I've seen a similar one in Atlantic City on a beach at night - just exactly what you said about it!!! It (I don't know, he or she) looked at me and followed me for quite some time; I even talked to him. I was there alone and we became friends!!! :) When I saw this photo of yours, I recalled this little event that happened to me. That one, I believe, was a younger one, but of similar colors and those protruding moving eyes were so interesting!
