After quite a long time without posting this species, here's another one.

Crotophaga ani.

This is the "Anu-preto". In English, smooth-billed ani.

Height: 14"

Description
A sociable, dark bird that, at a distance, resembles a grackle. It is distinguished from a grackle by an oversized, thick bill that grows out of the top of the head. Tail is very long, may be bobbed and wagged, and is often held beneath body. On close inspection, feathers on upper breast and back are
lined with iridescent silver, and appear scaled.

Voice
A thin and rising, "kweeeelik" made upon close approach. Audio is available at eNature.com.

Feeding
Feeds in large groups. One or two birds are assigned as look-outs while the rest of the birds feed in a flock on the ground or among reeds and brush. Have seen birds that are hunting feed the look-outs.

Hi Livio,
I like the colours of this bird and you captured him so well too. You get so close with that lens, and the results are excellent. He does have quite a smooth bill, and the catchlight in his eye is nice and sharp. Well done,

Perfect exposure and use of flash to bring out very nice detail/sharpness. The bird is rather attractive in coloration, and you have shown it famously :)
