Kolibri

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| The kolibri was flying around me nearby the Iguacu waterfalls on the brasilien side. As kolibris are very stressed animals, it's difficult to catch a picture of them - especially when they are sitting around for only some seconds. This is one of my pictures (on several pictures you can just see a tail in a corner of a picture) where you can see 100% of a kolibri. The other one is coming soon... |

Hi Georg,
Hummers are always favorites. If I had to guess (but not really!), this is an adult male Thalurania glaucopis (Violet-capped Woodnymph), Port.: Tesoura-de-fronte-violeta, Deutsche: Blaukronennymphe.
Georg,
You lucky man. This is truely a GREAT GREAT shot.
We were there in Iguacu; I took a lot of photos of flowers,
the "garganto do diabo", parrots etc:. But never of a FAST
flying jet "kolibri". Before I could point it was GONE.
Congratulations.
Best regards,
Mario.
