[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hedychium coronarium flower.
Shot taken near a waterfall in Brotas, São Paulo. This is Indian flowerfrom Zingiberaceae family, but now is found in Brazil in all region the soil is plenty of water.
White ginger is a tropical perennial; the green stalks grow from a thick rhizome to a height of 2-4' feet. In autumn the stalks are topped with fragrant white flowers that resemble butterflies.
The fresh sweet scent of this plant in bloom is a real treat on warm evenings.

Tech: gradient map to b&W and removing the BG with a mask. I did it to emphasize the textures.

Hope it´s not offensive to Treknature, since I captured it in wildlife conditions.

Hi Carmen
This ia VERY beautiful, the B&W brings out the texture well as you wanted to show. I love the dark BG, evenm the frame. A serious nit is that the petal are cut-off in the right and the too tight crpp left and right. Look at the space you alowed at the top between the petal and the frame - you need that space min around the flowers to let them "breathe". The space at the bottom is also spot on and you can play between these two for left & right.

Very nice B&W shot, works very well. I agree with Callie however - you need more space around the flower.
