This bird is called bem-te-vi. According to a Brazilian website, its name in English is great kiskadee. As a grown-up, the bem-te-vi’s size is approximately 15 centimeters. In fact, its name is an onomatopoeia. When people listen to its voice, they think its sound is similar to words in Portuguese, since they can be understood as “I saw you well” or “Honey, I saw you”. Therefore, the bem-te-vi offers us, Brazilians, a suggestive singing. If you wish to hear it, go to www.saudeanimal.com.br/bemtevi.htm

The bem-te-vi can be easily found here in Brazil, even in urban areas. At least here where I live.

They feed mainly on insects, but also on fruits, other birds’ eggs and flowers.

I took this photo in a place called Lagoa Grande (Big Lagoon). It’s not a difficult job to find this species there.

And where is todays insect Livio :-) ? Nice photo, beautiful bird. I'm not sure about composition and BG. I don't like blue balustrade and I think there is too much space on the left - only my opinion. I like Portugeese language - it seems to be very melodious. Maybe some day I'll try to learn it [after English and Spanish ;-)].

Nice shot, the bird is coming out very well one the blue BG, but I don't know if your choosed the better POV, being a bit more on the back could have been better.

I kinda like the composition. The bird is placed nicely in the larger compo. I find the blue a colorfull and nice contrast to the bird and not really distracting. I miss some eye detail though but its a minor nit. Well done.

Quite a nice shot of this bird you've posted several times - and always nice shots. Again there is blue paint on the rail. Do you paint everything blue in Brazil? (LOL) :)

Birds are my favorites on TN, and this one is no exception. I like that, this time, it's on another background, on an urban spot. You've choosen the right one here. I like your composition and the pose. Having a large water space and reflections in front is very appealing to this shot. Well done, Livio.
