Crater Rano Kau is located at the south-western corner of Easter Island, it also marks a sharp edge to the coastlines of the tranquil Chilean island. The crater, which is filled with reeds, provides a natural reservoir of drinking water to residents of Easter Island. The Pacific Ocean is shown on the left hand side of the picture.

Hi Dennis, Good to see this far away island on TN. Your vantage point gives an ideal perspective of this volcanic rim. Excellent result. Murray.
PS You are lucky to go here, must be very few tourists.

Welcome to TN...

What a view and what a walk! great shot. I like the portrait composition in this picture a lot, it emphasises the volcano edge really well.

Did you walk all the way round?
Emma

Hi Luar,
Welcome to TN...

I think if you could spend some time there waiting for the right moment and the sun position, you would get a better result. I think the light intensity is too high.

Regards,
Ken

Hello and welcome to TN Dennis.

This looks like an amazing crater! Beautiful composition and good focus. The picture seems a little bit bright, but nothing serious. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

This is a fascinating introduction to TrekNature. It is beautiful, mysetrious, and well-composed with good notes.

Hello Dennis,

Great picture with a very nice POV, composition is very good as well.

There is many place I wish I can go in my life and Pantagonia is right there at the top of my list... lucky you.

Hi Dennis,
I am very impressed by this image. I think it is one of the most impressive I saw of Easter Island.
It is a striking contrast to see how close the crater is to the sea - I guess the sea will slowly eat more of the island.
Very nice and TFS - Shir
