The Red-legged Cormorant or Pato lile is found in Argentina, Chile, Falkland Islands,and Peru.
Es el cormorán de menor tamaño entre las especies chilenas. Habita en todo el litoral, buscando las zonas rocosas. Fácilmente se puede distinguir de las otras especies por su color gris, su pico amarillo, sus patas rojas y su mancha blanca en el cuello. Inconfundible.
Se le encuentra en toda su zona de distribución durante todo el año, pero nunca en grandes grupos como sucede con el Guanay o el Yeco. Se alimenta de peces que captura zambulléndose en las aguas ribereñas y buceando con gran agilidad.
Anida en rocas o salientes de acantilados, construyendo su nido con huiros, algas y otras plantas marinas y sin ser muy meticuloso en su armado
