Arawacus leucogyna
Scientific name (Nombre Científico): Arawacus leucogyna (Leucogyna Stripestreak)
Order (Orden): Lepidoptera, Family: Lycaenidae
This butterfly lives from in Colombia, Venezuela and Peru, in Colombia from sea level to 2000 masl.
Some of the butterflies of this family have some hairy tails that they move constantly so the predators will get confused and if they bite they won’t do it in the head.

Taken in jpeg, cropped and resized. No flash, no tripod. Shutter speed: 1/640 sec., Aperture: F5.0, ISO 100.
Esta mariposa vive en Colombia, Venezuela y Peru, en Colombia habita desde el nivel del mar hasta los 2.000 msnm.
Algunas de las especies de esta familia de mariposas tienen una colitas que mueven constantemente y que guian a los predadores a atacar esta parte salvando la cabeza.
Longitud ala anterior 16 mm.

Interesting adaptation you captured here. Image quality is excellent, sharp and nicely saturated. The cropping is a bit tight on lower right for my taste. Thanks for sharing.

I think that this butterfly could easily be confusing for predators as at first; I couldn’t know myself where its head was or how many heads it has…
Nature is so amazing from its diversity and organization and this is a beautiful example. Thanks for having sharing this interesting one!
