[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Chavarrí" is the popular name of this bird in here. The scientific name is Chauna chavaria.

It is spred in wet lands such as marshes and rivers in the north coast of Colombia and Venezuela.

They feed on aquatic and semi-aquatic plants (four in total), and those plants depend of the good conditions of the water they grow in, but now It is severely contaminated.

Due to the size of this animal 90 cm approximately and 4 Kg weight, a lot of inhabitants of the countryside keep them in captivity as domestic ones or they hunt them for meat.

Despite of its size, they can fly very well. They have two spurs on each wing for defending themselves. They have strong legs that let them walk on the marsh or aquatic vegetation.

On the other hand, people are settled in the same areas where we can find them, therefore, they lose more and more territory every day.

As you can see there are several causes that diminish its population and let this species in danger of extinction.

Hola Mauricio,
I think it's the first picture of a screamer seen here on TN, so congratulations :) The picture itself could be sharper, but nevertheless I give two points for a rare capture.
Greetings
Michal
