| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This kind of palm Ceropxylon ceriferum, is our national tree. This species of palm is very high and the trunk is really thin. It has a very big importance within the ecological cycle, specially due to that some birds and mammals feed on their fruits and some birds live and nestle in there. We can find them in places located over 2000 meters asl. Its distribution is reduced to a few little places of our country. It is in danger due to customs in Easter week, because many parishioners chop down them to elaborate bouquets with their leaves. For the last ten years our government associated with private sector have been making big efforts to reduce that kind of behavior. |
