Ciao Carlos,
grazie per questa interessante e curiosa immagine di una specie che non conosco.
Le strategie di difesa degli insetti sono davvero incredibili e singolari.
Ciao,
Marcello

Hello Carlos,

What an amazing insect!
There is no chance of capturing eye contact here!
However, your photograph is exceptionally sharp in the f/g and displays good detail and colours!
Well done for showing us this strange creature!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Carlos,
Welcome to TN!
This is indeed and amazing moth (Saturniidae, I think) its colouring and postural behaviour to be camouflaged, as you say.
I guess it is trying to look like a curled up dead leaf. Though you have captured it well with fine sharpness to show us what it looks like. Thanks for sharing this interedting image,
Regards, Ivan

Carlos,

Thanks for sharing a picture of this unique insect. I would have thought that you posted a picture of a dried-up leaf, or something similar. That's is an excellent capture.

Regards,

Martin

Hola Carlos,
Vaya polilla!
JM

Fantastic camouflage in the shape of this moth, Carlos.
This too seems to me to be the very first view of this moth.
The image is well recorded and vivid.

Quite an interesting capture of a leafy moth Carlos, in a typical behavior of predator avoidance. A similar "death stance" can be observed in certain urodelans and anurans when they face a dangerous predator, which is known as the "unken reflex".
Cheers,
Mehmet
