English: Pacific (Peruvian) Pygmy-Owl
Latin: Glaucidium peruanum
Dutch: Peruaanse dwerguil
While I was standing on a platform I saw this little owl far away in a tree. A bit to far for my 300 mm lens. But I made some pictures. This is the result.
I think this is the first Pacific Pygmy-Owl on TN.
Pacific Pygmy-Owl.
16 16.5 cm. In the lowlands and subtropics of sw-Ecuador. It occupies a range of habitats including deciduous woodland and forest, agricultural and settled terrain with scattered trees and desert scrub.
Peruvian Pygmy-Owl is the old name.

Hello Peter,
Very beautiful and interesting owl you spotted!
I like its pose and the colours are lovely. Pity it was too far away for perfect focus but you still succeeded in getting a very nice composition!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Peter,
Congratulations on this first Pacific Pygmy Owl. Under the circumstances this is probably as good a capture as you could possibly take.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Peter,
Even though he is far away he has his eyes firmly locked on you. I think the scale of the crop is evident in the loss of detail but a good capture with good colour and well managed exposure. Well seen.
Regards,
Adrian
