Nice shot! You've captured this gull nicely, none of my local species have a red-rimmed eye - although maybe none of them found the alcohol ;) Exposure is spot on and DOF is nicely controlled. Personally I'd save with slightly less JPEG compression - there's a bit of detail lost on the feathers which I think is probably a result of the compression. I'd also be tempted to sharpen it a little more - perhaps try some high-pass sharpening and see what you think! I hope I get to visit the Galapagos islands some day myself... Good capture :-D

Great close-up of the gull, Liesbeth. Sharp details. The red eye rim is amazing. I have never seen a gull like that, not even in my bird books. You are so lucky to have had a chance to go to the Galapagos Islands. I would love to go there someday.
