Dear Paul,
I discovered your shot of the rays only now, while evaluating my own slides of Galąpagos. I can assure you you did a good job. There is this impression of the fishes flying above the water ...
As to the synchrony of the swimming: I found out in Galapagos while swimming along with a group of bigger rays that they use the wingtips to make contact with the formation neighbours. Once I started touching their tips with my hands regularely, they closed in on me and swam in tight formation! That was a most exhilarating feeling.
