Another view of the mighty condor, this time an adult with its black and white livery. The Andean condor is the only American vulture to show sexual dimorphism, with males possessing a large, fleshy lump on the front of their heads, called a caruncle, and neck wattles that are absent in females.Right now,you are seeing a male.

Pierre

Hi Charles!

I'm inexperienced in animal photography and it's also not my favourite, but looking at your Condors is just a pleasure! Maybe it remembers me the time I was practising hanggliding and when I once had the chance to fly in a thermal together with an eagle...

Your picture is not only perfect concerning the composition or rather the capture of that captor, but also concerning the other technical aspects as lightning and sharpness. I also like the fact that the background is blurred in order to underline and accentuate the principal subject.

Kind regards
Markus

simply majestic, TFS Ori

You captured this condor beautifully as it soared over the mountains, and although I'm not usually a fan of square crops it works well here - I like how the wings cut diagonally across the frame from corner to corner.
The background is a bit noisy, probably due to a high ISO setting, but I think in a way it adds to the atmosphere and gives the image quite a nice texture.
Good work Charles.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Charles,
Good clear crisp shot of the largest and most magnificent vulture in the world.

Michael

Hello Charles,
How wonderful to be able to see and photograph this impressive vulture! Excellent focus and sharp details in good light. I like the diffuse background too. Well done!
Many thanks, Ulla
