Hi Yuri,
Magnificent! Photos of this Woodpecker are rare indeed. This is an adult female nominate race spectabilis. In case you had not heard, race obrieni sometimes associated with this species has been relocated in NE Brazil and is still extant therefore. It is almost certainly a distinct species. They found the adult male bird - they only had one skin of obrieni - an adult female, and it was thought extinct.

Muy buena la foto de esta carpintero!
Me gustan mucho los detalles en todo el plumje, así como sus colores.
Muy acertada la composición vertical que usaste.
Dado lo oscuro del fondo, tal vez un marco blanco resaltaría mas la foto.
Que bueno tener representación sudamericana por aca, la verdad es que no hay mucha...

Muy linda foto e interesantísimo documento, solo lo habia visto en mi nueva guia de aves de Sudamérica. Bien la iluminación, solo un pelín brillante la zona del pico, pero no afecta demasiado; seguramente debe ser dificil tomar una foto así en el ambiente natural y ver todos los parámetros.

This is a beautiful shot of the fiery looking woodpecker. The composition is excellent. You made the right choice of using flash to eliminate the background and to bring out the colors.
