I am not too sure of the exact species of this frog some frog enthusiast would think that it is phrynohyas venulosa. I'm pretty sure that the genus is phrynohyas. When I get more info on this particular frog I will update the information. The plant I couldn't even begin to tell what it is?

This frog is from the hylidae family(New World tree frogs), it is aboreal, this frog is poisonous, for defense it secretes a milky white substance from the dorsal skin layer. I have handle these frogs before on many occasions, when it gets on your hands it dries fast and has a rubber glue effect, it is also somewhat hard to remove from your hands, I always use rubber glove when handling this species.

On this shot I used the built in TTL flash with a compensation of -1.0 EV.

If you seen one frog you haven't seen them all.
Frogs are good at 'Karaoke' or is it 'Croaky'?

Hi Paul
Looks like one from the 'croak & grunt' brigade.
Can one call a frog, cute? The princess who kissed one must have thought so.
Very good shot of the frog and the plant as the f/18 gave sufficient detail to be able to get a good view of both. I just love those crazy eyes.
All technical aspects were executed very well - composition, POV, colour, DOF, and exposure and especially the flash control.
Great work. TFS.
Regards
Loot

Great shot Paul. The frog looks great and the colours of the vegetation is excellent too. Great shot.

Hi Paul
Amaizing shot, I love this frog pose and specially the wonderful leaves pattern and colors. good time exposure
Hernán

Hi Paul, what an unusual frog this is. Nice details in your image and that leaf its sitting on is a real contrast for it (at first glance I thought it was a fabric!). As Loot said, your use of flash is just perfect. Very nicely done :)

Amazing image, Paul. The lily pads couldn't be a better backdrop with their wonderful colors. Thanks for sharing!

Alli

Hi Paul,
The frog looks excellent on its own. Sitting on the very unique leaf makes it really cool. Amazing colors and very sharp detail. Perfect exposure??? As good as it gets!
Scott

I am impressed with the colour and sharpness of the image, the plant leaf almost looks like wrapping paper. Was this taken with the onboard flash or a dedicated macro type flash, I ask because of the iminent arrival for my D200 along with a sigma 105 F2.8 for just this sort of image so i look to learn from you how you set up the shot please.
TFS yours Robert

La plante qui supporte la grenouille est absolument fabuleuse. La grenouille elle-même n'est pas en reste. Belle image, qui ne laisse pas indifférent.
Félicitations.

Hi paul,
Very good image of the frog. The leaves color are amazing, looks like botic painting made on cloth. In India, have the similar leaves, without this red color pattern, and we use it for food also.
The picture, DOF, POV are all good in this nice picture. Show more of your frog pictures!!

Hello Paul,
Another great shot of a frog. As always perfect technique. I must admit that the plant is so interesting that it gets a bit too much attention, but that's not a big nit.
Overall, superb shot!
