Not sure on this ones ID, I took this picture during an vine yard tour in Uruguay.
I will upload a frontal shot in the work shop.
Not the best quality, but after a couple of glases of wine what you expect ;-).

Thanks Hernan for the ID!

The southern lapwing is the only crested wader in South America. The upperparts are mainly brownish grey, with a bronze glossing on the shoulders. The head is particularly striking; mainly grey with a black forehead and throat patch extending onto the black breast. A white border separates the black of the face from the grey of the head and crest. The rest of the underparts are white, and the eyering, legs and most of the bill are pink. It is equipped with red bony extensions under the wings (spurs), used to indimitade foes and fight birds of prey.

The Lapwing lives on lake and river banks or open grassland and this one on a vineyard.

Hi Sky

Great shot, I really like the simple composition and the pose of the Bird looking into the distance, like the soft pastal colours too, hope you enjoyed your wine.

TFS Hilary :o)

Hi Again Sky,
Maybe not the best quality, but is interesting for me. the bird is very common in South America and in TN, is a southern lapwing (tero in Argentina and Uruguay, quero-quero in Brazil and Avefria tero in Spain). You can see lots of them in South America gallery and mine.
Best regards
Hernán

Hi Sky,
Splendid shot. Very cool and soothing mood. Lovely soft colours and immaculate sharpness. I like the POV and how the bird is walking away. Very nicely composed and framed. Kudos.

Bonjour,
Joli oiseau pris dans son milieu. Les quelques fleurs donnent une petite touche de couleurs
Bonne journée.

Hello Sky,
I can't help with ID as I didn't go often to Uruguay, lol :) Have you done a world tour or what? OK, I can see that there were some glasses of wine involved here as details are a little soft in my perception but this is a nice composition with beautiful bird and I like this framing. I'll look forward to see if someone knows its ID. I don't have any bird's book about Uruguay's birds here :) Thanks,
Claudine

Despite the wine, this is a very good shot of the Southern Lapwing, Sky :-).
I have seen this bird for the first time, so I have enjoyed looking at it and reading about it in your note.

Hi Sky

This is a nice capture from you again!
Even if the details are a bit soft on this one, i'm sure you did your best in what seemed to be not ideal lighting conditions.
The composition is really good and the pose of the southern lapwing is very nice.
Also very good POV and DOF.

Bravo and TFS
