| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This Photo shows a Cristofué (Pitangus sulphuratus)- Also called “Pecho Amarillo” (yellow chest), it is one of the most common Venezuelan birds, his call sounds like cristo fue (Christ was) what gives him his name. A joyful merry, but also very aggressive and hasty bird always seated at the highest spot of the area and dominates all his surrounding. A great hunter of insects and small sprouts, a big enemy of bees, destroying their beehive.
This “Cristofué” hatched on the roof of our house and came with his parents to enjoy the dogs dry food. At his feet to the left along the bar are the rests of germinating seeds they normally eat. |
