A "saltahojas" that looks like a small French flag. These insects are actually tiny. Until now I had a lot of attention llmado. But color me interested in it, for being so bold. Agrefo some information found. I think I was going to do very difficult to classify accurately.

close by the warm hold of the long hind legs with one or more rows of spines arranged longitudinally. It is estimated a minimum of several thousand species in Costa Rica cicadélidos in hundreds of genres. Although many species of agricultural importance have been described, most of the wild yet have names. There are over 50 subfamilies in the world. Many of these species have very wide distribution range to the north and south. However cicadélidos that are common in fields of crops, many species are wildlife habitats.

The chicharritas feed exclusively on sap from leaves and stems of many plant species, using the stylus from its sucking mouth parts. In most food places to work a muscle that pumps large quantities of sap which draws its nourishment and energy. While feeding also eliminated or excreted through the anus substances that are absorbed in the ex or not you are useful. The species that feed on phloem sap and excrete a sugary liquid which feed on xylem sap excreted large amounts of water. Others feed on mesophyll cells of leaves and very little liquid to drink. Unfortunately little is known about the relationship of most species with host plants, but some are well known for their specificity. Cicadélidos Some are well known for its ability to transmit viruses and bacteria that cause plant diseases (eg, fine streak virus Maize, transmitted by Dalbulus maidis). Most members of this family produce sounds of low intensity and can be transmitted through the substrate. Can be emitted by vibration of a bodies called timbales are at the base of the abdomen or through and in a similar way as do the horse mackerel, but they lack the air bag for the high intensity of sound in the horse mackerel. Females have an ovipositor with which lay their eggs beneath the surface of the tissue of plants. The cicadélidos develop rapidly and can have up to 6 generations or more in a year. Food and Drinks are the nymphs of the same plants and in the same way as adults. They go through 5 nymphal stages to become adults who can then live a few weeks to several months.

Hi Jesus,

The colors and details of these small insects are marvelous. I love the beautiful bold markings. Fantastic to get two in one frame. They show up beautifully on the leaves. Thanks for introducing me to the Chicharrita.

Bonjour jesus,

ciao sERGIO

Look's like some kind of tiger moth! Even though the picture is good i felt that the inner picture has a better POV.

Hi Jesus,
I think your ID is correct.
This does seem to be an insect of the Leafhopper (Cicadellidae) family.
Excellent colour and sharpness.
Very nice work.
Cheers & TFS
Steve
