This photo was taken in recent days in a difficult situation, I had to climb a precarious mound of earth to reach the height of the flowers. Finally the photo I was somewhat out of focus. I had to make corrections (in more of what they used to) in the sharp and bright. The idea is to expose this little bee with flowers that make it quite contrasting.

Infraclass: Neoptera
Order: Hymenoptera
Suborder: Apocrita
Infraorder: Aculeata

Family: Apidae
Subfamily: Apinae
Tribe: Meliponini
Genus: Trigona
Specie :Trigona silvestriana

These black bees are quite common in our country. They are stingless bees. Here in Venezuela is often called "pegones" because they generate a kind of very sticky secretion, to cause many problems if you pose in your hair or clothes of people, be very difficult to hold.

It is the largest genus of meliponidae and widely distributed. It differs from other genus of meliponihidae Americans (except oxitrigona and cephalotrigona) In the presence of a longitudinal elevation on the inside back cover of the tibia hair short and smooth (Keirotrichia), plus the presence of feathery hairs around the margin after the warm (Michener, 1990) This genus is distinguished not only by Melipona morphology of bees, but also by the architecture of the nests and their systems of caste determination. The nests of the genus trigona, as in honeycombs Melipona are horizontal, but sometimes trigona flat while others are built in a spiral. Usually nest in cavities of trees, alive or dead.

Hola Jesús,
Though this required some PP work it is a fine capture both of the Meliponid Bee and the flowers that look like small fruit shown in an excellent composition with fine colours and details.
Though it would be interesting to know what this plant is I find your note good to read and I thank you both for this and for haring this excellent image,
Gracias por ver este buon trabajo.
Saludos,
Ivan

Jesus, Your effort to correct the picture has borne some fruit, but the picture is bit over sharpened , the contrast and saturation is bit on the higher side.
I liked the POV with the insect and the fruit

Hola Jesús

Impresionante flor e impresionante imagen, unos colores excelentes y unos detalles muy buenos.

Un saludo Antonio

Beautiful colours with excellent definition.
Lighting and composition are splendid.
Good notes

Hello Jesus, beautiful macro of this small bee. Good sharp focus. The minute details of the flower along with the bee are looking so beautiful. Wonderful colors and good shallow background that highlights the bee well. TFS.

Macro eccezionale. Per nitidezza luci e POV. Grande Jesus.

Roberto

Hi Jesus,
I think sometimes the cameras sensors precfer to focus on the brighter areas than on darker objects,so the flowers and fuit have come out a bit sharper.
Its pretty frustrating,huh?
Two ways to deal with it are to either use manual focus on the bee,or to focus on something else the same distance away as the bee .... but I'm sure you know this already, right?
Anyway,a good capture of this 'stingless' bee (my favorite type :)
Cheers & TFS
Steve

Hello Jesus,
Very interesting picture. I didn't know that there are stingless bee-species. Interesting frontal view on the black bee, we normally show them from the side. It is on a very special-shaped plant, would be interesting too to know what it is. Some informations on my last picture, used 400 ISO and picture made with Canon Macro Lens EF-S 60mm 1:2.8.
Thanks also very much to have put it among your favourites. I will be absent for 3-3 days, will leave in a few minutes.
Thanks a lot and take care
Anne

It's a vry beautyfull picture. I like for the colours and the power of detail. The plant is wonderfull. I didn't knew it.
Congratulations!!!
