Hello, friends from TN!

I rarely photographed butterflies, because these places tend to be fairly quick and reluctant to allow them a lot closer. Also, I do not have enough patience, much less the requisite speed!
But this time, I had to make an effort to capture the curious ability to drill, which has a small butterfly (less than an inch) I present today.
This insect has two fast elongated extensions at the rear of the wings, completely contradictory to the real head, simulating these antennas, including the drawing of the wing near both appendices also simulates an eye and part of the mouthparts. What impressed me the most is the ability of the butterfly to "move" false Appendices their dishes as if they were true, this magnificently complete illusion game, which I suppose is intended to divert attacks from predators. The idea is to place two photos, leaving the movement resulted from the antennas false.

Perhaps you already saw this kind of ability to mimic other butterflies. But for me it is new and surprising.

Hope you like, I am indebted to the ID, I hope to find soon.

Jesus

Hi Jesus,
This is a pretty good set of images of this butterfly.
I think Ivan has posted this species before,or something similar,so he is almost certain to know the ID.
Cheers
Steve

hello Jesus,
A very interesting double-picture! I like the idea to look at the fine differences between both shots. It would be nice to know its ID. It must be from the Lycaenidae family. Two good pictures of a beautiful and fine butterfly.
Thanks and have a sunny Sunday
Anne
