Garcita reznera (also called “small garcita”, or simply “garcita”) in an artificial pond on the farm "the Clavellinas" This artificial lake has failed to fulfill its role as a reservoir of water for irrigation, and now goes to the activity of fishing. Here many species of birds whose habitat is usually near water.

Garcita reznera (Bubulcus ibis):

General Features:
Measures 51 cm. and weighs 350 grams. It is the only small white heron with yellow beak and is more sturdy and shorter neck than other small herons. Adults are white with iris, beak and skin yellow. The legs are black and the crown, back and chest before dyed. Immature specimens do not show traces of yellow and before the peak is off.

Habitat: Found in savannas, grasslands, mangroves, marshes and agricultural areas. Associated with livestock.

Food:
They eat grasshoppers and particularly other insects that jump when the passage of livestock forage in the grasslands and savannas, or the passage of tractors in agricultural fields. Sometimes the groups were fed on their own farms and swamps. They also eat snakes, frogs, lizards and small mammals.

Behavior: They are gregarious and form large communal roosting in trees over water.

Method of Reproduction:
The nest is a little deep hemispheric cup, more or less thick, built of twigs or stems of rushes, usually lined with leaves. Located primarily within a mangrove tree or another tree or a large bamboo, often over water, in dense colonies. Put 2 to 4 pale blue eggs. They reproduce only in the rainy season. They tend to be multi-species nest in colonies near water. The male brings the materials and the female builds the nest and both have equal share in incubation and provide food for the offspring. Juveniles fly between 40-50 days old and are feathered to 60 days. During the reproductive season have feathers ante conspicuous in the crown, chest and back, and the peak and the skin more or less reddish.

Hola Jesús,
A fine double shot of a Cattle Egret in breeding plumage, I like both the portrait and the rear-view flight photo, both being sharp and well presented.
Thanks for posting this, a reminder that this species is now found all round the world.
Best regards,
Ivan

Hi Jesus.
You have pictured a charming, very elegant bird and it is very nice that you have presented it at two different POV. Both shots give excellent idea about beauty of the egret. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.
P.S. Many thanks for warm comments to my last snake shot.

Ciao Jesus, great double view of lovely egret in nice standing pose and in great fly, beautiful light and colors, good details and excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Ciao Jesus,
bella doppia immagine di Bubulcus ibis (Guardabuoi in italiano), un Ardeide che fotografo spesso anch'io, buona nitidezza e molto belli e naturali i colori
Grazie e complimenti
Ciao Maurizio

Hi Jesus,
A nice pair of Egret shots here.
The inflight shot is deceptive because we can only see a part of the beak.
Seen by itself, this could almost be mistaken for a gull....if it wasnt for those big feet sticking out behind the tail.
TFS & Cheers
Steve
