After reviewing a few hundred pictures in websites, in order to classify this insect that I assumed belonged to the family Cicadellidae ... was not, therefore "has no hind legs toothed"

The things to be learned in this photograph and classify bugs!

Is then an individual of the family "Cixiidae" relatively different from the family "Cidadellidae”.

More precisely the species is "Oecleus borealis, a tiny insect really think that does not measure more than 3 mm in length.

Taxonomic Information:
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Hemiptera
Suborder: Auchenorrhyncha
Superfamily: Fulgoroidea
Family: Cixiidae
Genus: Oecleus
Species: Oecleus borealis

Cixiidae is a family of fulgoroid insects, one of many families commonly known as planthoppers, distributed worldwide and comprising more than 2,000 species from over 150 genera.
Cixiid species are typically comparatively small (body size less than a centimeter) and usually inconspicuous. Nymphs live underground, feeding on roots. Adults feed on herbs, shrubs and/or trees; some are polyphagous, while others are specialised on their host plants (monophagous). A couple of species are cavernicolous, feeding on roots in volcanic caves. Females occasionally bear impressive "wax tails" produced by wax-producing plates at the tip of their abdomen.
Several species are of economic importance (e.g. Hyalesthes obsoletus, Haplaxius crudus). Phytoplasma are common parasites in these insects, causing diseases in coconut palms and foliage, grapevines, sugar beets, and lilies

hello Jesus,
Very interesting and good idea to show us some of these tiny creatures, quite difficult to catch. Thanks also for your notes going with it.
Even if -for this picture-the sharpness is not top, we clearly can see the details of this insect and especially its beautiful wings.
Un grand merci
Anne

Hi Jesus,

Amazing that you could get such a fine shot of this very small insect. A wonderful pose on the leaf showing off the transparent wings, body and face. Fine details, natural colors and a pleasing background.

Hi Jesus,
you must have worked very hard to identify this bug. Well done and thanks for the sacrifice you did.
Such a small insect with excellent production.
The light is very complementary and the clarity is well detailed.
Excellent job and thanks for liking my spider story . Natural world is very intersting.
