[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of many Sulphur Crested Cockatoos that had gathered with a flock of corellas in a semi-forested area near our home.

Both corellas and 'cockies' (as the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos are known in Australia) are particularly noisy, and certainly make their presence known when they fly into an area.

Hi, Peter, you are coming along with your 20D.
A good thing to do with white subjects, is to underexpose them a little. This will reduce the "Hot or cooked" look.
Also, a filter on the lens can help as well, UVs, circular polarizers, warming filters like, maybe the 81b.
Excelent capture and well done on the composition.

Hi Peter, and a belated welcome, since I am always late. This is a nicie picture, especially because it was taken in the environment, and that counts a lot more to me than the bit buzy BG. The whites are a bit hot too, so try a polorizing filter or experiment a bit with your EV, this birs is about =2 I recon, but then the Bg brings a bit dow, Spot meter off the bird, open 2 to 3 stops and shoot.

Very nice picture Peter.
Great composition and colours.
As mention the bird is overexposure. Callie is right, spotmeter the bird and open about 2 steps. And use the histogram in the camera to see if the exposure are right,no markings to right.

Nice shot, but a bit OE.
Well done.
TFS.
