[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The New Zealand Mountain Parrot, Kea is a funny, rather big bird, to watch. When they peeling off rubber from other peoples car (that's the funny part :) or go after your shoelaces.
I was quite intimidated by the size of the Kea and with their powerful and sharp beaks.

They live in the mountains of New Zealand's South Island and is the only alpine parrot in the world.
The Kea received full protection in 1986.

This one was "shot" before entering the mountain tunnel to Milford Sound.

Hello Christian, welcome to trek nature. a good photo to start with. good colours. and a lot of details. well done..
Nick

Very good start. I loke the pose and action you cought of this beautiful bird. I think F4 may have been a bit large of an Fstop. Looks as if your focus is on the Parrots back and the eye is a tad out of focus. I think that F5.6 would have been a better F-stop to get a tad more DOF. Very good shot though.

Hi Christian,
Welcome to TrekNature!
Good capture. The focus does not seem to be on the head, but on the body. It is very important to focus on the head (specifically the eye) and recompose the picture. Also, it would have been nice if it was a full body shot and the bottom wouldn't have been cropped.

Regards,
Shahar.

A decent shot for your first post!
Shame the head is slightly out of
focus but a good capture with brilliant
composition and POV.
Well done,
Joey

Another fine shot of the naughty Kea. Until seeing yur photos I didn't realise that they had such an interesting colour range on their feathers. Lovely exposure and sharpness in every detail. I hope you can post more.

Hi Christian. You did well to get such a clear view of this kea. They certainly have a reputation as you describe. Excellent clarity. Murray.
