A male pheasant foraging.
The common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus, or "gewone fazant") is, as it's name implies, quite common in most of Europe. As is often the case, the male is rather colorful, with the female birds having a coloring that really blends in with the surroundings, as well as being smaller. |
